ఇళయరాజా సంగీతం లో పూర్వ వైభవాన్ని గుర్తుచేసే పాటల కోసం ఎదురుచూడడం కూడా దాదాపుగా ఆగిపోయింది. 1997 తరువాత తన సంగీతంలో మెరుపులు తగ్గిపోయాయి అనేది నా నిశిత అభిప్రాయం. Great songs were becoming fewer and far between . This is purely my personal opinion.
Nevertheless its ok. No artiste can give peak output throughout his or her career. Quite natural.
In my opinion IR could not assimilate the emerging world music trends of 21st century.
Somehow he couldn't create the magic of his music of 80's. In my opinion, he gave his best music during 1980-95.
His strength is interplay of flutes and violins and we did not hear much of his innovative compositions since long long time.
Another dampener is his voice. His voice is not suitable for all types of songs. When there are able playback singers, why sing and spoil the beautiful composition?
Many of the good songs composed and sung by him would have sounded better if great singers like SPB or KJY or PJ rendered them.
Maybe the urge to sing is irresistible as seen in a few music directors.
He is one of the all time great composers. No two opinions about it. He gave us hundreds of memorable songs to cherish for a lifetime. More than 1000 movies in a career spanning 50 years. Incredible indeed.

Coming to the present,
గత ఏడాది షష్టి పూర్తి అనే సినిమాకు ఇళయరాజా సంగీతం అందించాడు. అందులో ,ఏదో ఏ జన్మ లోదో ఈ పరిచయం ' అనే పాట బాగుంది. We could see glimpses of vintage Ilayaraja in this song.
సంగీత దర్శకుడు కీరవాణి ఈ పాటకు సాహిత్యం అందించాడు. ఈ పాటలో కొన్ని పదాలు మంచి భావుకత కలిగి ఉన్నాయి.

అనన్య భట్ అనే గాయని ఈ పాట బాగా పాడింది.
కళ్యాణ వసంతం రాగం ఛాయలో ఈ గీతం ఉన్నట్టు అనిపిస్తుంది.
