అన్ను మల్లిక్ -  mostly composes crude loud and commercial music.

కానీ తన జీవితంలో గర్వంగా చెప్పుకోదగ్గ సంగీతం 'Refugee'  (2000) అనే హిందీ చిత్రానికి సమకూర్చాడు.

అర్ధవంతమైన సాహిత్యం (జావేద్ అక్తర్), అద్భుత గానం (అల్కా యాజ్నిక్, సోను నిగమ్, ఉదిత్ నారాయణ్), చక్కని చిత్రీకరణ, lilting tunes కలిసి ఈ చిత్రంలోని పాటలు రూపుదిద్దుకున్నాయి.   album లోని అన్ని పాటలు అత్యుత్తమ స్థాయిలో ఉన్నాయి. 

The sincere effort of Anu malik is evident in all the songs.  Kudos to director JP Datta for envisaging such milieu and  believing in Anu Malik. Anu deservingly won the National Award for music for 2000. 

The awards committee too deserves appreciation for recognizing a worthy effort without prejudice.

1)  మేరే హమ్ సఫర్  పాట -  (అల్కా యాజ్నిక్, సోను నిగమ్) - యమన్  కళ్యాణ్ రాగంలో Such a melodious song beautifully sung.  ఇంకో మెచ్చుకోదగ్గ విషయం debutants కరీనా కపూర్ , అభిషేక్ look so good and natural. 

2) ఐసా లగ్తా హై  -  (అల్కా యాజ్నిక్, సోను నిగమ్) another beautiful duet with soothing instruments. and interludes.

3) పంఛి నదియా పవన్ -    (అల్కా యాజ్నిక్, సోను నిగమ్) పక్షులకు, నదులకు, గాలి తెమ్మెరలకు సరిహద్దులు లేవు. మనుషులు కంచెలు కట్టుకొని ఏం పొందారు. Great meaningful lyrics. Javed Akhtar won the National Award for this song. 

Anu Malik composed good music for an earlier J P Datta film ' BORDER' too. JP Datta brought out the best out of him.He made a few border-army films.  

4) రాత్ కీ హతేలి పర్  - (ఉదిత్ నారాయణ్) . The percussion sounds so ethnic and he chorus used is so good in this song.  

5) తాల్ పే జబ్ ఏ జింద్ గానీ  -  (అల్కా యాజ్నిక్, సోను నిగమ్) . Lovely song indeed. 

We like trans border love films.  In reality we get Trans border Terror only.

చక్రవాకం- అహిర్ భైరవ్ రాగం.  an apt ragam to express pangs of separation.

This is a real gem. చక్రవాకం- అహిర్ భైరవ్ రాగం. - 'ఏనాడు విడిపోని బంధం ఇది'. పాట rhythm, lyric, music - above all the impeccable rendition of Balu. It is one of the finest pieces from the oeuvre of vamshi-raja combo.

ఈ రాగంలో చప్పున స్ఫురించే  కృతి పిబరే రామరసం (చక్రవాకం- అహిర్ భైరవి) - బాలమురళి weaves magic

సదాశివబ్రహ్మేంద్ర స్వామి కృతులు - పిబరే రామరసం - మానస సంచర రే - గాయతి  వనమాలి - సర్వం బ్రహ్మ మయం - ఖేలతి మమ హృదయే .. They are immortal songs composed by him in Sanskrit. Beautiful lyrics. ఈ కృతులలోని శబ్ద సౌందర్యం ఇట్టే ఆకట్టుకుంటుంది  

శాస్త్రీయ సంగీతాన్ని స్పృశించే  పాటలను తన  చిత్రాలలో పొందుపరిచే అభిరుచి ఉన్న దర్శకుడు  సంజయ్  లీలా భన్సాలీ.

In the recent times, an unsavoury incident took place where ilayaraja sent a legal notice to balu garu .

Legal notice to a friend who travelled with you for more than four decades. Ilayaraja's music and SPB's singing are inseparable. While raja created everlasting music, Balu and Janaki garu brought those tunes to life.  

 అన్నమయ్య, త్యాగయ్య, పోతన్న ... మరెందరో... Copyrighting works. No it is not an Indian concept. 

Like all other fans, I fervently hope to see Raja and Balu perform together again. If friends can't forgive each other who else will?

స్వరమండల్ - సంతూర్ - హిందుస్తానీ సంగీత వాద్య విశేషాలు.

స్వరమండల్ నుంచి వచ్చే సంగీతం వింటే..

ఒక పువ్వు విచ్చుకున్నట్టు, నెమలి పురి విప్పుకున్నట్టు, మబ్బు చాటు నిండు చందమామ మోము చూపినట్టు, horizon మీదుగా సూర్యోదయం చూసినట్టు, చెట్టు కొమ్మల్లోనుంచి పక్షులు ఒక్కసారిగా ఎగిరి పోయినట్టు, చంటిపాప ఉన్నట్టుండి  నవ్వినట్టు, జలపాతపు ధారలు జలజలా రాలినట్టు అనిపిస్తుంది.

హిందుస్తానీ సంగీతంలో ఒక అపురూపమైన వాయిద్యం ఇది.  

It is primarily a accompanying instrument of a vocalist usually played by him/her self. It does the work of a tanpura and more. Swarmandal is more like an icing on the cake. It complements the singer and embellishes the concert.

సంతూర్ వాయిద్యపు ధ్వని వింటే నెమ్మదిగా నునుపైన గులకరాళ్లపై  పారే సెలయేటి స్వచ్ఛమైననీటి పోలిక గాఢంగా తోస్తుంది.  కళ్ళు మూసుకుని వింటే మంచుకొండల్లో విహరించినట్టు, మబ్బుల్లో తేలిపోయినట్టు అనిపిస్తుంది. పండిట్ శివకుమార్ శర్మ - This name is synonymous with Santoor. 

సిరిమల్లె నీవె పాట ప్రారంభంలో స్వరమండల్ -  సంతూర్ ను చక్కగా ఉపయోగించారు. శివ్ -హరి ద్వయం , ఇతర హిందీ సంగీత దర్శకులు సంతూర్ ను  సినిమా పాటలలో తరచుగా ఉపయోగించారు. తెలుగులో కొంతవరకు రమేష్ నాయుడు పాటల్లో సంతూర్ వినిపించేది. 

ఇళయరాజా 'నాదం నీ దీవెనే' పాటలో సంతూర్ మధురంగా వినిపిస్తుంది.

29/12/2016 నాటి మార్గళి ఉత్సవ కచేరి ఇక్కడ వినవచ్చు. Outstanding concert. త్రిస్థాయిల్లో వాయులీన త్రయం perform చేయడం చూడవచ్చు. 

She is right up there in the league of violin maestros , viz. Lalgudi, TN Krishnan, MSG, LS.. వయోలిన్  లో వాగ్గేయకారుడి గాత్రం వినిపించాలి. సాహిత్య భావం పలకాలి. ఇది ఆమె బాణీ. She has evolved a style which is marked by brevity and minimalism.  She has mastered this technique so well that only the best melodic structures are presented to the audience. She has tutored many successful students, which is her greatest contribution to carnatic music. 

నాకెంతో ఇష్టమైన కళ్యాణ వసంత రాగం లో ' నాదలోలుడై' కీర్తన.  Another shining star joins the galaxy of sangita kalanidhi recipients. Immensely happy about it. 

నగుమోము గనలేని మా జాలి తెలియని ఆబాలగోపాలమురళి

ద్విశతాబ్దగాయకుని మహాభినిష్క్రమణం జరిగింది. 86 వసంతాల జీవితం లో 80 ఏళ్ళు సంగీత వేదికను వీడని కళాకారుడు భూప్రపంచములో మరొకరు లేరు.  వారి నగుమోము, మృదు సంభాషణ, సున్నిత హాస్యభరిత ధోరణి, అన్నిటినీ మించి వారి గాత్రమాధుర్యం అభిమానులకు మిగిలిన జ్ఞాపకాలు. 

వారు ఠీవిగా నడిచివచ్చి 'భారత రత్న' పురస్కారం అందుకుంటుంటే చూడాలని ఎంతో ఆశ పడ్డాము. మనకిక ఆ అదృష్టం లేదు. భారత రత్న గౌరవానికి ఆయనకు మించిన అర్హులు లేనేలేరు. కనీసం మరణానంతరమైనా ప్రకటించి భారత ప్రభుత్వం ప్రాయశ్చిత్తం చేసుకుంటుందని ఆశిస్తాను. 

3 octaves range మాధుర్య, శ్రుతి లోపం లేకుండా సాధించిన ఏకైక గాయకుడు అంటే అతిశయోక్తి కాదు. 

నగుమోము, ఎందరో మహానుభావులు, త్యాగరాజ పంచరత్న కీర్తనలు , రామదాసు కీర్తనలు, తత్వాలు, తిల్లానాలు, రాగం తానం పల్లవి ...  ఆయన పాడితే వచ్చే నిండుతనం మరెవరికీ సాధ్యం కాదు.  

ఎందరో గొప్ప గాయకులు ఉన్నారు. Some have melody. Some have range. Some have immaculate sruthi. Some have good pronunciation. Some know how to regale audiences.  Some have creativity. Some bring out the essence of sahitya. Some sing with manodharma. Very few become trendsetters. Fewer artistes set benchmarks. Balamurali is the combination of all these qualities. He has the magical voice to mesmerise audiences.

 Another likeable trait is his openmindedness to all kinds of music genres. His classic jugal bandis with Pt. Bhim sen joshi are legendary.  He embraced and elevated film music as well. His voice was not fully utilized by the film industry. 

శంకరాభరణం, త్యాగయ్య, అన్నమయ్య వంటి చిత్రాలలో ఆయన పాడి ఉంటే ఎంతో బాగుండేది. It would have lent authenticity to the music. That was not to be. Maybe the film folks were diffident to approach a towering personality like him. 

During later stages of his career he wanted to be known as vaggekayara. He invented ragas and composed kritis. In my opinion they serve as new syllabus for advanced performers. 

ఆయన ఎన్ని కొత్త కీర్తనలు పాడినా రసికులు ' నగుమోము' లేదా 'ఎందరో మహానుబావులు' లేదా ' ఏమి చేతురా లింగా', 'పలుకే బంగారమాయెనా' కావాలని అడిగి పాడించుకుంటారు.  
బాలమురళి స్వరపరచిన 'తిల్లానా' లు 'thrillana ' లుగా పేరుపొందాయి.

యధాలాపంగా ఇటీవల గాయని సునీత పాడిన ఈ అన్నమయ్య పాట విన్నాను. సంగీతం సాయి మధుకర్. (1.40 to 9.05)

పాట బాణీ , సునీత చక్కగా పాడిన తీరు, సంగీతం and of  course అన్నమయ్య lyrics అన్ని కలిసి అరుదైన, ఇట్టే ఆకట్టుకునే  రాగంలో ఉన్న ఒక మంచి పాటను  విన్న అనుభూతి కలిగింది. సునీత has done 100 % justice to the song. అలమేలు మంగ పాడుకున్న ఈ పాటకు కళ్యాణ వసంతం రాగం బాగా కుదిరింది.  This ragam seems to be particularly apt for the female devotee who longs for the Lord.

సాయి మధుకర్. ఇటీవలి కాలంలో మంచి స్వరకర్తగా పేరు తెచ్చు  కుంటున్నాడు. ప్రముఖ భక్తిసంగీతకారుడు  సాయి కృష్ణ   యాచేంద్ర కు బంధువు. వేంకటగిరి రాజా వారి మనుమడు అన్న విషయాలు తెలిసాయి. 
He seems to have the ability to compose good fusion music. I saw his interview and liked it. He seems to have a fair knowledge of traditional music and is nicely adding modern elements. 
He has already worked with great singers such as SPB Sir, Chitra Garu, Shankar Mahadevan and classical music legends viz. Pt. Shiv kumar Sharma, Ronu Mazumdar. He has a bright future. The best thing about him is that he prefers devotional music to routine meaningless film music with banal lyrics. It is not my intention is to belittle film music.

కళ్యాణ వసంతం. ఈ రాగం కీరవాణి జన్యం. strikingly similar yet delightfully different. 
ఈ రాగం లో బాగా తెలిసిన పాట 'మాధవా మాధవా నను లాలించరా ' (శ్రీరామకథ - SP కోదండపాణి- ఘంటసాల-సుశీల). i think that this is one of the top duets sung by Ghantasala susheela garu. 

MSV compose చేసిన 'కాంచి పట్టుడుతి'  (MSV-KJ Yesudas, Vani Jayaram). A beautiful song which brings out the essence of the ragam.

సునీత గారి  పాట worked like a trigger and prompted me to write this post.

చిన్నప్పుడు భక్తి రంజని లో వేదవతి ప్రభాకర్ గారు పాడిన మీరా భజన్ తెలుగు  గీతాలు (సినారె) . అందులో మ్రోగించేనే మురళి మ్రోగించేనే అనే పాట. Songs which appeal to one's heart stay with you for life. 

ఖరహరప్రియ లో 'స్వామి' 'పక్కల నిలబడి' పాడిన పాట .

 కర్ణాటక సంగీత ప్రపంచంలో కె.వి. నారాయణస్వామి (1923-2002) గారిది సమున్నత స్థానం .

పాలఘాట్ మట్టిలో , నీటిలో, గాలిలో  ఏమి మహత్తు ఉందొ కానీ కర్ణాటక సంగీతానికి fountainhead గా నిలిచింది. 

 kvn పాడిన  'పక్కల నిలబడి'  ( ఖరహర ప్రియ- త్యాగరాజ స్వామి) కీర్తనలో నెరవుల మెరుపులు విరుపులు (మనసున తలచి) వినవచ్చు.
